Save the Date: Valor Games Far West 2017, June 2-5, 2017
This event is for any Veteran or active duty service member with a disability who is eligible for VA healthcare, and lives in the Western Region of the United States. The goal of the Valor Games is to introduce adapted sports to attendees in order to promote ongoing adapted sport participation in their community.
During their application, athletes are required to agree to the Athlete Code of Conduct.
All eligible athletes are encouraged to apply, however priority in this year’s games is given to:
- Athletes who have not competed in a previous VGFW and live in the Western Region* of the United States (for example: HI, AK, CA, NV, WA, OR, AZ, NM, CO, UT, ID, WY, MT)
- Returning athletes who have competed in a previous VGFW and live in the Western Region* of the United States. Returning athletes will be made aware of their status no later than May 1, 2017.
*Athletes who live outside of the Western Region will not be considered for this year’s event.
Hotel stay, ground transportation during the event, and all meals, are covered through funding for the event provided by Veterans Affairs. Athletes must arrange their own transportation to get to the host hotel.
Need assistance with travel expenses?
Eligible athletes may receive grant funding from Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) Operation Rebound® to assist with travel expenses to-and-from VGFW.
Who: Active duty, honorably discharged veterans and first responders (police, fire, paramedics): amputees, paralyzed, legally blind, severe TBI (affects motor skills/balance) or other injury or disease that is classifiable by Paralympics.
