Apply for Base Access

This event takes place on Coast Guard Island, an active military base, and security protocols will be implemented for all who access the base. Spectators with an armed forces issued ID card (dependent, civilian, retiree or active duty) need not submit to a background check and must present the card to Security when entering the base.

Background Screening for our 2020 event will be available in the spring.

Complete three easy steps:

  • Step 1: Enter Self Registration Number: 77474025
  • Step 2: Enter Your Information as Requested
  • Step 3: Provide Legal Authorization and Certification

It is important when entering your name, that you use your full legal name as written on your current ID (state driver’s license, passport or state ID with name and DOB). Please also verify that your social security number was typed correctly. Using nicknames or failing to type a correct social security number may delay or invalidate your background check.

The screening will be performed by the National Center for Safety Initiatives, the same firm used by members of the Olympic Family, including USA Gymnastics. It should take less than ten minutes to answer the security questions and just a few days to process your information. You will be informed of your status to be present at our event within a week to ten days of the submission of your information. Your prompt attention to this is critical so there is enough time to process your request to be present at the event.

Once you have submitted your information you will receive a confirmation page with a 16-digit Applicant ID Number. You may check your status on the website under the “Check Your Background Screening Status” link at

Your respect for this process and the peace of mind that it brings to everyone involved is appreciated. Direct any questions you have to
